Description

I managed 35 subs of this at 4 minutes long each through my 3" triplet - 2 hours and 2o minutes integration time. I have never imaged with the Nikon D800 for this object before, so it was a bit of an experiment really... With regard to the final result I am not sure whether I like the background as it seems a little coloured - that said with so many stars and their colours, it is hard to tell if it is the stars making my eye think the background is 'wrong'. Either way this does give such an impression of a vast starfield, which is what I hoped for. Incidentally, the next picture uploaded here, is a large crop of this image - and actually, by doing so, it has reduced the number of stars significantly and so now the background seems better to me - perhaps that proves my theory? Incidentally they look better on my monitor than through astrobin directly. I'm not sure why, but that is how it is today. Thanks everyone...
